Realtime BlackList (RBL)
RBL is an abbreviation for Realtime BlackList. It is a method of identifying mail servers or Internet hosts which send emails that are frequently spam. There are many RBL services available for mail servers to use. Some RBLs are free to use, while others are commercial services that charge for their use.
Ivenue's mail servers are configured to use three different RBL services:
- SpamHaus -- List of open relays and hijacked cable/dsl modems.
- SpamCop -- List of open relays.
- Internal -- Servers which have sent us spam.
Check if your IP is on our internal RBL.
The spam filtering software we use (SpamAssassin) also uses a fourth RBL service called SURBL . The SURBL looks in an email message and checks all URLs to see if there is a record of that URL being used in emails that are reported as spam.
